In 1987 Matthias Ritzmann and John Gehman joined skills and knowledge to form Architectural Woodworking Associates (AWA).
Located along the Delaware River in Frenchtown, NJ, AWA has easy access to Philadelphia, Northern Jersey, New York and Bucks County clients. Our well equipped shop space of over 10,000 square feet provides us with ample infastructure for efficent production of both large and small projects.

Matthias Ritzmann
Matthias Ritzmann is a native of southern Germany and received his education as cabinetmaker in the traditional German apprenticeship system – a system which has been producing some of the worlds finest craftsmen for generations. Matthias worked in cabinet shops in Germany before moving to Bucks County, PA in 1982. Matthias lives in Doylestown, PA with his wife and two children.
John J. Gehman
John J. Gehman, originally from Macungie, and Huff’s Church areas of Pennsylvania, has resided in Bucks and Hunterdon Counties since the early 1970’s. He is an alumnus of Spring Garden College, where he received an Associate Degree and Bachelors Degree in Construction Engineering Technology.

He continues his education through professional courses offered by the Architectural Woodworkers Institute and Rariton Community College.

John is currently the President of New Jersey Architectural Woodworking Institute and lives in Upper Bucks County with his wife Cara.
